Chapter:90

Al-Balad – That city

Total verses: 20

As the first verse of this chapter mentions this word ‘Al-balad’, it is named ‘Al-balad’

In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent and the most Merciful.

1,2. (O Muhammad) I swear by379 this city as you are a deweller of the city26.

3 .And by379 the begetter and by that he begot.

4 .Indeed, We have created man as the one (who has been) facing constant struggle.

5 .Does he think that nobody has power over him?

6 .He says, “I have destroyed (by giving) vast wealth.”

7 .Does he think that no one has seen him?

8,9. Have We not made for him two eyes,a tongue and two lips?26

10.And have We not shown him the two ways (the good and the bad)?

11 .He has not crossed over the pass.

12 .And how do you know what the pass is?

13,14,15,16,17. It is the freeing of the slave, feeding during starvation of the orphan, who is a close relative, or the poor who wallows in misery. And then join with those who believed preached patience and preached kindness. 26

18 .Those are the companions of the right-hand side.

19 .Whoever turns away from our verses are the companions of the left-hand side.

20 .There will be covered-fire on them.

Chapter :89

Al-Fajr – The dawn

Total verses: 30

As the first verse of this chapter mentions the word ‘Al-Fajr’,it is named ‘Al-Fajr’

In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent and the most Merciful.

1 .By379 the dawn.

2 .And by379 the ten nights387.

3 .And by379 the even(number) and the odd(number).

4 .And by379 the night which passes away.

5 .In there (sufficient) oath for the wise in it?

6,7. Do you not know how your God dealt with Aad and the people of Iram, with pillars?26

8 .(Nobody) was created like them in this world.

9,10. (And how did he deal with) the people of Tamud. Who (lived) near the foot-hills carving out the rocks and Firaun,the possessor of an army? 26

11 .They have been transgressing in the world.

12 .And they increased corruption in it.

13 .So, your God flogged with the whip called torment.

14 .Indeed, your God is watching over you.

15 .And when his God makes the man live with respect and tests 484 giving  happiness to him, he says, “My God treated me with honour.”

16 .And when He tests484 by giving his wealth limitedly, (he) says, “My God has humiliated me.”

17 .Not so, you do not honour the orphan.

18 .And do not encourage in giving food to the poor.

19 .And, you eat well the properties of the heirs.

20 .And you love the wealth more.

21 .Not so, when the earth is crushed into pieces of dust.

22 .And (O Muhammad), when your God comes with the angels parading in lines.

23 .And, on that Day1 the hell will be brought. The man will realise only on that Day1. How will this reminder be beneficial to him?

24 .(He) says, “Shall I not have sent forth in advance (good deeds) for my life?”

25 .On that Day1, His punishment will be severe as no one can punish.

26 .And His binding will be such as no one can bind.

27,28.O satisfied soul, you go to your God with satisfaction and satisfied (by your God)

29 .And you join with my servants.

30 .It will be said, “Enter my paradise.”

Chapter :88

Al- Ghashiyah – The overwhelming

Total verses :26

As the first verse of this chapter mentions the word ‘Al-Ghashiyah’, it is named ‘Al-Ghashiyah’.

In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent and the most Merciful.

1 .Has the news about the overhelming event come to you?

2 .On that Day1, some faces will be humbled.

3 .They acted certainly in bad (deeds)

4 .They will char in the blazing fire.

5 .Given to drink boiling (hot) spring.

6 .There is no food except throny plant for them.

7 .It will neither nourish nor remove the hunger.

8 .On that Day1, some faces will be happy.

9 .They will be satisfied for their work.

10 .Remain in an elevated paradise.

11 .There, they will not hear vain (things)

12 .There are flowing springs.

13 .There are couches raised in high.

14 .And goblets are placed.

15 .And cushions arranged in order.

16 .And carpets spread around.

17 .Should not they see how the camel is created?399

18 .And how the heaven507 is raised?

19 .And how the mountains are erected?

20 .(should you not also see?) and how the earth is spread?

21 .So give advise. (O Muhammad),you are only an advisor81.

22 .You are not a guardian for them81.

23,24 .Except the one who disbelieves and turns away (from the only one God), Allah will punish him very severely.

25.Indeed, their return is only to Us.

26 .Then indeed, the (act of) enquring them is our responsibility.

Chapter :87

Al-A’la – The most High

Total verses:19

As the first verse of this chapter mentions the word ‘Al-A’la’, it is named ‘Al-A’la’

In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent and the most Merciful.

1 .Exalt the name of your God, the most High.

2 .It is He who created and perfected.

3 .It is He who destined and showed the way.

4 .And it is He who brought forth the pasture (for grazing).

5 .And then made them without stubble.

6,7. (O Muhammad), We will recite to you152&312 . You will not forget220,

except what Allah wants. Indeed, He knows whatever is hidden.26

8 .And (O Muhammad), We will make what is easy more easy for you.

9 .If the advice helps them then you advise.

10 .The one who fears will learn the lesson.

11 .The wretched will avoid it.

12 .It is he who will char in the great fire.

13 .Then he will neither die nor live in it.

14 .Indeed, the one who lived with purity succeded.

15 .And He prayed remembering the name of his God.

16 .But, you select the life of this world alone.

17 .The hereafter is the best and the permanent.

18,19. Indeed, It is the former Books and in the Books of Ibrahim and Moosa26.

Chapter :86

At-Tariq – The morning star

Total verses: 17

As the first verse of this chapter mentions this word ‘At-Tariq’, it is named ‘At-Tariq’.

In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent and the most Merciful.

1 .By the heavens507 and the morning star.379

2 .And, How do you know what is (meant by) Tariq?

3 .It is a shining star.

4 .Every soul is not without a guardian over it.

5 .Let man think from what he was created.

6 .He was created from the ejaculated fluid.

7 .It emerges from between the spinal column and the ribs231.

8 .Indeed, He has the power to resurrect him.

9 .Secrets will be revealed on the day.

10 .He will not have any strength. There will be no helper for him.

11 .And by the heaven507 which returns149.

12 .And by the splitting earth.

13 .Indeed, it is a clear statement.

14 .And this is not to be mocked at.

15 .Indeed, they plot severly.

16 .I also plot severely6.

17 .So, give time for disbelievers. Give them a little time.

Chapter :85

Al-buruj – The stars

   Total verses:22

As the first verse of the chapter mentions the word ‘Al-buruj’, it is named ‘Al-buruj’.

In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent and the most Merciful.

1 .By the heaven 507 (adorned) with the stars379.

2 .And by the promised379 Day1.

3 .And by those who give witness379 and by those on whom witness is given.

4 .The people of the well of fire were cursed469.

5 .It is a fire filled with fuel469.

6,7. They remained witness as to how they treated those who believed when they were sitting near it469.

8 .And they have not (taken revege) avenged them except, “They believed Allah, the Praiseworthy and the Mighty469.”

9 .The rule of the heaven507 and the earth belongs only to Him, alone. Allah is an observer of every thing.

10 .Indeed, there is the torment of hell for those, who torture the believing men and women, then do not ask for forgiveness . For them, there is torment of burning.

11 .Indeed, there are gardens of paradise for those who believe and do good deeds. Below them rivers flow. There is the great success.

12 .Indeed, the grip of your God is severe.

13 .Indeed, He creates first and again creates.

14 .And he is Forgiving most Kind.

15 .He is the Owner of the ‘Arsh’, the Mighty.

16 .He is the performer of what he intends .

17,18. Did you receite the news about those soldiers, the people of Firaun and Tamood?26

19 .Yet.those who disbelieve (only one God) persist in denying.

20 .And Allah encompasses them from behind.

21 .Yes. it is a Glorious Quran.

22 .It is in the protected157 record.

Chapter :84

Al-Inshiqaq – Splitting apart

Total verses: 25

 As the first verse of the chapter mentions about ‘the heaven splitting apart’, it is named ‘Al-Inshiqaq’.

In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent and the most Merciful.

1 .When the heaven507 splits apart.

2 .And,when it obeys the order of God,  in the state obligation.

3 .And, when the earth is expanded.

4 .And, when it brings-forth whatever is in it and becomes empty.

5 .And when it obeyed the order of God,  in the state of obligation.

6 .O man, You  strive (very) hard towards (in the way of) God. So, you will meet him.

7,8. Whoever is given the record book (register) in the right hand, he will be enquired lightly26.

9 .And he will go to his family happily.

10,11. Whoever is given the record book behind his back, he will call for destruction26.

12 .And he will also char in hell.

13 .Indeed, he remained happily with his family.

14 .Indeed, he thought, “He will return to his (God)”.

15 .Yes, indeed, His God has been observing him.

16 .I swear by the reddish-glow379 of the  horizon (at  sunset).

17,18. And by the night, by whatever it encompassed and by the full moon379.

19 .You will ascend step by step.

20 .What had happened that they do not believe.

21 .And, when the Quran is recited they do not do ‘Sajda’396.

22 .Instead, the disbelievers (of only one God) consider it a lie.

23 .And Allah knows whatever they hide.

24 .So, you warn them of painful torment.

25 .Except those who believed and did good deeds. For them there is an endless reward.

Chapter :83

Al-Mutaffifin – Dishonest in measuring and weighing.

Total verses :36

As the first verse of this chapter mentions about the dishonest in measuring and weighing, it is named, ‘Mutaffifeen’.

In the name of Allah, the most Beneficent and the most Merciful.

1 .Woe to those who give less in measure and weight.

2 . When they buy from the people measuring, get  it in full.

3 .And when they give either by measuring or by weighing, give less.

4,5. Should they not think that they will be resurrected on a great day26.

6 .On that day, people will stand before the God of the worlds.

7 .Not so. Indeed, the record of the sinners is in ‘Sijjeen’434.

8 .And how do you know, what is meant by ‘sijjeen’434.

9 .That is a written record sheet.

10 .Woe, on that day, for those who considered it a lie.

11 .They considered the Day1 of judgement  a lie.

12 .And no one except every sinful transgresser will consider it a lie.

13 . If Our verses are recited to him, he says, “These are tales of our forefathers”.

14 .Not so, rather, whatever they have done has been set as a rust in their minds.

15 .Not so, indeed, on that day, they will be prevented from their God.

16 .Then, they will char in the hell.

17 .Then(it) will be said, “It is this which you considered  a lie”.

18 .Not so, the record of the righteous will be in ‘Illiyin’434.

19 .And how do you know what is meant by ‘Illiyin’434?

20 .That is a written record.

21.Those who are close (angels) will see it.

22 .Indeed, the righteous will be in happiness.

23 .They will be observing,reclining on, from the elevated couches.

24 .You will know from their faces the flourishing radiance of pleasure.

25 .They will be given to drink sealed wine.

26 .That seal will be  musk. Those who compete will compete only in this,

27 .And its mixture is the water called ‘Tasneem’.

28 .It is a spring drunk by those nearer to God.

29 .Indeed, those who committed crimes have been laughing at the believers (in the world).

30. And, they have been mocking by exchanging glances while passing them.

31. And, when they went to their families , they went feeling happy.

32. And when they saw (the righteous) then, they said, “Indeed, these are misguided.”

33. And they had not been sent as observers over them.

34. On that Day1, the believers will laugh at those who disbelieve (only one God).

35. They will  (Recline), observing from elevated couches.

36. (It will be asked), “Will not the disbelievers be given reward for what they used to do?”
