232. The words ‘I did not commit betrayal’ were uttered by whom.

In verse 12:52 of the Quran there is a sentence as “To make my master be aware I did not betray him while he was out of sight”.

There are two opinions expressed as to who uttered the words “ I did not betray “

Some say it is the statement of the wife of Azeez. But the words in the verse clearly say it cannot be.

Azeez’s wife could never have uttered the words ``To make my master be aware I did not betray him while he was out of sight”.

Because Aziz's wife has already owned up her betrayal of her husband in the previous verse. It would be self contradiction by her if she says “I did not betray him” after owning up by saying “ I was the one who committed the betrayal, he is speaking the truth.”

Hence Prophet Yusuf is the person who stands qualified to say “ I did not betray”.

When it is declared verse 12:52 is the statement by Prophet Yusuf, it also stands proved, verse 12:53 is also that of him. It could be understood that it is not the statement of Azeez’s wife from verse 12:52.
