303. The many darknesses.

When the Quran talks about ‘light’ it mentions only singularly, but darkness is referred to in the plural form.

But the Quran mentions darkness in plural form in all places referred by it.

The following verses 2:17, 2:19, 2:20, 2:257, 5:16, 6:1, 6:39, 6:59, 6:63, 6:97, 6:122, 10:27, 13:16, 14:1, 14:5, 17:78, 21:87, 24:40, 27:63, 33:43, 35:20, 39:6, 57:9, 65:11 are the ones where we can find mention of different kinds in darkness.

When darkness is generally addressed in singular form, its mention in plural is viewed with a backdrop of great scientific discovery.

Though light appears to us as a single phenomena, it has seven different color components with individual wavelengths, and penetration powers. The color component with a short wavelength can be split by a medium very easily, and the one with a longer wavelength is hard to be broken into much smaller fragments..

Certain colors stop being refracted within a short distance, whereas others get to be refracted to a longer distance. Some colors at a little more distance.

Each color when stopped from penetrating, turns dark. When only three of the rainbow colors are visible the rest are merged as darkness.

When we read a sign board with red, yellow and blue colored letters, they are visible at a particular distance, but when viewed from a much longer distance, the blue colored letters are invisible in spite of the place being brightly lit.

It means the blue color turns into darkness at that distance, and in the same way the other colors turn into darkness depending upon the distances viewed from.

Hence it can be seen different darknesses engulfing different colors at different distances,

thus the usage of the word darknesses in plural.

Similarly the Quran talks of darknesses at different levels of depths increasing at deep sea in verse 24:40.

This verse talks of the hands of a person becoming invisible to him at a level in the deep sea.

The scientists have discovered how the sunlight that falls on the surface of the sea diminishes gradually as the depth increases and turns into complete darkness at a particular death.

There are seven different colors in the sunlight known as the rainbow colors.

Since the wavelength of each color differs from the other, the colors get blocked at different depths in the sea.

The rays of red color component of the sunlight penetrates only upto a distance of 15 meters depth in the sea. At a depth of more than 15 meters in the sea water only six color components would be visible with the red color component of the sunlight blocked and becoming dark, where red colored objects become invisible. Likewise different colors get blocked at different levels of the sea water, until at a depth where all the colors are blocked and complete incomparable darkness engulfs the surrounding, as discovered by scientists.

American researcher Beef says “ On reaching a depth of 1000 meters under the sea, my eyesight staggers, and all colors lose their relevance, and the darkness above the surface of the sea/earth cannot be termed as one in comparison with the below found phenomena.

There are different grades of darkness, and at a depth of 1000 meters under the sea, a complete incomparable darkness can be found in the daytime.

The disclosure by Prophet Muhammad who was never a seafarer all his life, such scientific facts is yet another proof the Quran is ‘Word of God”
