97. The chicanery of Jews in the book of Torah. 

In these verses (3:93, 5:15) of the Quran Allah points out to the chicanery of Jews in the holy book of Torah. 

The holy book of the Jews is known as the Torah. It is in the Hebrew language. Even the Jews of those days did not have complete knowledge about the book. Only the Rabbi had knowledge of it. They disclosed to the people whatever suited them and hid the rest. 

Allah commanded Prophet Muhammad to throw a challenge at the Jews about many things that were not in their scripture as disclosed by their learned Rabbi, and also the presence of certain other things that were denied by them in their holy book.

Prophet Muhammad could not have on his own accord, point out the mistakes from Torah in alien Hebrew language while being an illiterate himself. Hence the challenge that was thrown by Prophet Muhammad proves Quran is God’s word that guided him. 

Many are of the opinion that the ‘Old Testament’ is called Torah, this is a misconception. Please refer to explanation point No;491.
