100. God does not share any power with Prophet Muhammad.

This is one of the most important verses (3:128) that loudly postulates Monotheism.

This verse was revealed during the ‘Battle of Uhud’. In this war Prophet Muhammad’s teeth were broken, and his jaws were very damaged, and his face was bleeding profusely.  

At that time Prophet Muhammad uttered the words, “How can the those be victorious who smeared blood on the face of their messenger.” That was the time of this verse (3:128) stating ‘You do not have any share in the power’ (of God deciding the fate of enemies.)

At times of unbearable agony and pain people do utter such vicissitudes, cursing others for the misfortune. Allah also forgives these victims, says verse 4:148 of the Quran.

But when the same vicissitudes are uttered by the messengers of God, they may give rise to an opinion that they (the messengers) may be bestowed with significant powers, hence the words ‘How would those who bled me succeed’ uttered by Prophet Muhammad is being reprimanded by Allah. 

The tone of this verse is like Allah saying ‘I can make people who attacked you succeed or pardon them as well, do not usurp my powers’. 

Though Prophet Muhammad would not have imagined he had the powers of God, we should understand the mere usage of such words of this nature are disliked by God. If that is the status of Prophet Muhammad, imagine the so-called saints buried in shrines and mausoleums and savants. What kind of power do they carry? 

If we ponder over this verse, it could be easily understood the folly/ideology in which they are, by worshipping humans who are alive or dead or other material things in place of God.

There is another important message conveyed here. If Prophet Muhammad had not been a messenger, and supposedly imagined as claimed by some the Quran by himself would he quote a verse that is detrimental to him?

No one could imagine such things at a time when the pain is unbearable, and the battle raging with enemies gaining an upper hand. Hence all these points out that Quran is God’s word ant not the imagination of Prophet Muhammad.
