245. Prophet Ibrahim’s prayer was turned down.

The verses (2;145, 14:35) of the Quran say the prayers by Prophet Ibrahim were not granted by Allah.

Of all the messengers of God, Prophet Ibrahim is given much prominence in the Quran to the extent that he is mentioned as a friend of God.And exhorts Muslims to follow him.

Prophet Ibrahim who is held in such high regard by the Quran pleaded with Allah to protect his heirs from idolatry (verse 14:35). But his descendants turned out to be idolaters.

And he also prays to Allah to make his descendants be pious. But Allah rejects his prayers by mentioning not to intercede on behalf of evil doers.(verse 2:124)

This shows however great a messenger may be, there is no guarantee/assurance that his prayers would be accepted in full. This verse strictly imposes the ideology that God will put into action whatever He wills.

This is in strong refutation of those who believe that if the pious/saints/savants/ demand things will be granted by the great Almighty.

These people should ponder about Prophet Ibrahim being mentioned as friend of God was refused a prayer by God Almighty.

To know how the shrine worshippers are wrong in their arguments please refer explanations points 17, 41, 49, 79, 83, 100, 104, 121, 122, 140, 141, 193, 213, 215, 269, 298, 327, 397, 427, 471.

244. The messengers spoke the language of the community.

The verses (14:4, 19:97, 44:58) of the Quran say, the prophets sent to particular communities spoke the language of that community, the mother tongue of that prophet...

The reason for this is the fact, the task of the messengers does not end with the delivery of the message, but also to explain it in the same native language of the community for them to understand.

This is a fitting reply to those who say they cannot accept the explanations of the prophet, only his revelation.

This verse (14:4) of the Quran is a befitting reply in no certain words to those who keep saying the task of the prophet is only to to deliver the words of God and not explain. Each and every word of this verse seems like it has been designed to refute these peoples claim.

Allah declares in the Quran through this verse, he has sent messengers to communities that speak the same language as the of the messenger. The Almighty also clarifies in the verse about the reason for sending in the prophets is they could explain the scriptures in the same language spoken by the communities.

Let’s imagine like this, our mother tongue is Tamil, if the person bringing a letter in Tamil does not know Tamil language it does not in any way affect us the receivers of the letter.

We will not be bothered about the language of the letter,.If the contents are understood by the people to whom it is meant.

But if a letter is sent through a person who is required to explain the contents of the letter to the reciever, then it is a must he knows and understands the same language in which the letter is sent.

The Almighty says the Quran was delivered in the same way. If any one is stubborn enough to say that “ I will understand the Quran as per my desire and do not require the explanation of the person bringing the letter would lead to refuting the above cited verse.

Allah says in the Quran only when the messenger knows the language of the community could he explain the scripture sent to them. Refuting the saying of God regarding the requirement of a messenger to explain the contents of the scripture is against the Quran.

The task of the messenger was not only to deliver the scripture but also to explain its contents to people. And it was the duty of those people to accept it.

It would be a great injustice if the people of that particular period alone are educated about the scripture they are delivered and the rest to follow them are deprived of it. The Almighty has in many places of the Quran made it clear that he does not in any way perpetuate injustice to anyone.

The people of the day used to get clarifications from Prophet Muhammad regarding their doubts. The explanations given by Prophet Muhammad to the doubts of people regarding the Quran belongs to people of all ages to come and are designated as Hadiths which are still safeguraded.

People who say that Prophet Muhammad did not offer any explanations to the verses of the Quran, are refuting the above verses

If it has been accepted that messengers were offering explanations for the verses of scriptures all along means those explanations stand good for all times.

Hence these verses prove, the explanations given by Prophet Muhammad are very much necessary.

243. The earth is being reduced from its edges.

The verses (13:41, 21:44) of the Quran say the earth is being reduced on its edges.

Scientists lately have discovered land being constantly swallowed by sea.

Because of global warming glaciers start melting into the sea resulting in the rise of sea level swallowing land mass.

Fourteen centuries ago no one had the knowledge about the land being eroded gradually by sea.

This is yet another evidence of the Quran being the word of God.

241. The sun is constantly moving.

In these verses (13:2, 31:29, 35:13, 36:38 39:5) of the Quran we find the mention of the sun in constant movement along with all other planets for a certain time of period. We find the same repeated in verses (21:33, 36:40) of the Quran.

Man believed the earth was flat at a certain period of time.

Later on he changed his belief by saying the earth is spherical in shape and is the center of the solar family, with the sun revolving around the earth.

Later his belief turned by saying, the sun being in a stationary position while the earth revolved around it.

Today he has come to understand that the earth rotates on its own axis taking a day to complete one rotation, and one year to revolve around the sun.

The scientists of the day have discovered that the sun rotates itself with the earth revolving around it, and pulls along its family member planets with it at a speed of nine lakh kilometers /hour

The claim that the sun not only rotates, but also is in constant movement for a certain period of time could only be that of the great God.

This fact could never be the imagination of an illiterate Prophet Muhammad fourteen centuries ago.

The words used in this verse if keenly observed without bias would make clear that they are not the words of man but of God. This is yet another evidence to prove ‘The Quran’ is God’s word.

240. The sky also rests on pillars.

The verses (13:2, 31:10, 22:65) of the Quran say “The sky what you see without pillars , and the earth were created by Allah”.

These verses convey the message that the earth and the sky with invisible pillars were created by God Almighty.

Are there invisible pillars between the earth and the sky? Yes definately there are !All planets in this universe have a certain orbit within which they manoeuvre and also exhibit force of gravity to hold them onto places in the sky.

For example the earth that we live on rotates at 1670 km/hr and revolves around the sun at 1,07,000/km/hr.

If there hadn’t been a force that holds the earth together, while rotating and revolving at such high speed, the earth would go asunder from its orbit.

The weight of the earth is 6,000,000,000,000,000,000,000, 000.kgs.(6, followed by 24 zeros)

Scientists have calculated that one lakh crore of steel rope with a width of five metres is needed to hold the earth in its place in relation to the sun.

The force of gravity acting as pillars is the reason for the earth to remain its place.

This scientific truth is what Allah refers to as “the invisible pillars”.

This force of gravity is what holds the various planets in their orbits.

The Quran has revealed 1402 ago, what man discovered in the 17th century.

When there are no pillars found in between the sky and the earth, there is no need for the usage of the word ‘invisible pillars’.

The words (“pillars that cannot be seen”) are God’s word used to denote the unseen pillars, indidirectly.

This is yet another proof to show that ‘The Quran’ is not the imagination of Prophet Muhammad but word of God.

239. Why are there no females among messengers of God?

Verses (12:109, 16:43, 21:7) of the Quran say messengers of God all of them men were sent to guide people to the straight path,

This should not be construed as an ignominy on women.

.A lot of discrimination is exhibited between men and women in spirituality of different faiths of the world. Quran discloses in many places about the absence of any discrimination between men and women in Islam regarding spiritualism. There is no difference between men and women in reaching heights in spiritualism by doing good deeds and receiving God’s rewards for such acts can be seen from verses (40:40, 4:124, 16:97, 3:195, 33:35) of the Quran.

A woman who has done more good deeds is held in a higher esteem than a man who has done lesser. People are awarded in the hereafter based not on gender they belong to, but on their deeds ,acts, and ideology they follow.

Hence it can be seen that females are not excluded to be messengers because of their gender.

And also not excluded because they are considered unfit to meet arch angel Jibreel while carrying down messages from God Almighty.

It can be seen from the verses (20:38, 28:7) of the Quran a message being sent to Prophet Musa’s mother.

And also can be seen from verses (3:47, 19:7) of the Quran the message about Arch Angel Jibreel delivering commands of Allah to Maryam (AS)

And verses (66:11-12) while talking about the characteristics of a true Muslim point out to two persons both female.

When the Almighty points out two females as precedants to true Muslims,it can be understood that females can excel compared to men in spiritualism.

Then why were females not sent as messengers of God?

The work of a messenger of God is a rigorous task, not possible even by all men.

.A person sent as a messenger of God need to face single handedly all ideologies and doctrines against monotheism during which they may be:-

A) Killed

B) Banished.

C) Tortured by stoning.

D) Subjected to nudity.

and undergo various other torments.

And foremost of all these is they may be subjected to sexual assaults again and again.

A woman can never be able to face a whole community single handedly and bear the difficulties while doing so.

Even today women prefer tasks that are not painstaking, like lifting heavy loads, pulling along heavy loads etc;. The task of messengers of God is much tougher than all this.

The evidences we have cited above doubtlessly point out that the responsibility of prophethood was not granted to women folk because of gender discrimination or to bring them ignominy

238. What does “Towards the altars” mean?

In verse (70:43) of the Quran the words “ Like those rushing towards the altars” is mentioned.

When sacrifices of animals are carried out at Altars, people rush forward to collect what is left out there.

Just as we see in places of worship in our country people rushing to collect coconuts while they are broken, the people of those days rushed towards altars to share the meat, as soon as the slaughter of animals was over.

We see the use of parables in this verse on awakening humans from their graves.

237. Obeying Non-Muslim ruler

Prophet Yusuf is holding a ministerial post in the government of a country. He, only to hold back his brother to live him made use of the law of his father’s (Prophet Yaqub) country, and in the rest of the matters he followed the law of the land says verses 12:74-76.

Prophet Yusuf was a minister in the government in Egypt. He is incharge of carrying out his responsibilities as a minister in the government. Though laws revealed by God to his father were there, in their country, he made use of the laws of the land in Egypt in all matters.

This verse conveys the message, if the laws of land were to be implemented in his brother’s case, he knew that he cannot retain his brother with him, is the reason he made use of the laws of his native country.

Prophet Yusuf asks his brothers about the punishment handed for theft in their country, they reply by saying the punishment is to hold the accused in custody of the government.Hence he holds back his brother based on the law spelt out by the brother.

This could be understood from the words “As per the law of the land where he is a minister, he is not authorised to hold back the accused”.

Moreover, in order to keep back his brother with him, he implemented the law of his father’s (Prophet Yaqoob) regime in this case and laws of the land in rest of the matters.

These verses bear testimony to prove that in countries where there is a non-muslim government except in the case of religion and ways of worshipping, in all other matters we are bound by the laws of the concerned governments.

All the verses that say about implementing divine laws mention it to be done only on acheiving the required power. Hence this verse should not be seen as contradicting.

In non Islamic countries, muslims face a situation where they are bound by the laws of the land. They serve as officials of the government or as workers, where they cannot implement Islamic laws but to work under the law of the land.

For example a Muslim judge cannot issue a verdict to severe the hand of the thief , but to follow the law of the land.

Whether this can be considered as a crime in the eyes of Islam? No is the answer. Allah will question only when there is Islamic rule and when such rules are violated. It is not a crime to follow laws of the land of non-Islamic countries.

We can find the basis for this in the above verse.

Please refer to explanation point 234.
